Jonathan Fisher Burkett arrived at 2:54 PM on Monday, May 19th, 2003. He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Both mother and son are home at White Deer and doing very well. Sibling input has it the Jonathan is the "Best" Baby that they have ever seen. And, of course, Grandmother Burkett says that he is by far the most beautiful of all babies ever born!

Joseph and wife Kim are the parents to a new baby girl who arrived on December 9, 2004. Ashley Louise Burkett was born in Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, Texas on December 9, 2004 at 5:35 PM; Weight - 7 Pounds, 2 Ounces, 21" Long; Ashley Louise is an eighth generation descendent of Henry Burkett, Jr. and Polly Epley Burkett through Jacob Lorenza Burkett. Ashley Louise is the son of Kimberly Louise and Joseph W. Burkett IV of Austin, Texas. Joseph W. Burkett IV is the son of Joseph W. Burkett III, DVM of Fredericksburg, Texas.

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we have to announce that beloved father and husband, Steve, passed away on August 14th, 2006, succumbing to cancer after a four battle.

"Stephen Moran Furbush

HUNT — Stephen Moran Furbush, 43, passed away at home on August 14, 2006, after a four-year battle with sarcoma cancer. Born in Houston, Texas, in 1963, he attended school in Houston and graduated from Memorial High School. He then earned a Bachelor of Arts and teacher certification from Schreiner College in Kerrville, Texas. Steve’s teaching career began with the Kerrville Independent School District and continued at the Hunt School, Hunt, Texas. He was a much loved and respected teacher and coach at the Hunt School until his death. Humble about his accomplishments and true to his passion and gift for teaching, Steve inspired and challenged his students to be better people. He was not only their teacher, but also their friend.

Steve married Jane Elizabeth Burkett at Haven River Inn in Comfort, Texas, on March 13, 1999. He was an awesome dad, husband, son, brother and friend. He was the best friend a person could wish for. His infectious smile and unending humor stayed with him until the end. He was loved by all who knew him and loved all those he knew.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Burkett Furbush; his daughters, Kristian Furbush, Sharon Cook-Furbush and Haiven Furbush; his parents, Bill and Weezie Furbush; his sister, Anne Curran and husband, Dan; his brother, Bill Furbush, and wife, Kadie; uncle, Mike Furbush, and wife, Lee; uncle, Bill Livingood; uncle, Larry Livingood; aunt, Susan Livingood; aunt, Elizabeth Cotton, and husband, John; grandmother-in-law, Pearl Burkett; father-in-law, Joe Burkett III, DVM, and wife, Courtney; sister-in-law, Diana Kimberly; brother-in-law, Joseph Burkett IV, and wife, Kim; sister-in-law, Judith Magee, and husband, Chris; brother-in-law, Hunter Burkett, and wife, Kathy; brother-in-law, Trapper Burkett; brother-in-law, Jonathon Burkett; nephews, Daniel Curran, Billy Furbush, Michael Kimberly and Hagan Magee; and nieces, Kailen Furbush, Melia Furbush, Emilie Kimberly, Margaret Ann Kimberly and Ashley Burkett; numerous cousins; loving friends and colleagues; and many adoring students.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to their family, friends, and the Hunt community for their love and support over the past four years.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 7 p.m. at Camp La Junta, Hunt, Texas. Please dress casually. A memorial fund in Steve’s name has been set up at Bank of the Hills, Kerrville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be forwarded to:
